WE THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES (12/22/13)

We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

The Constitution of the United States of America is a powerful document, more considering it has survived all these many years and continues to permit changes, amendments be they difficult to come about because of the tedious process. However there have been amendments to the Constitution proving to us and the world at large that our Constitution is a living document.

"A more perfect Union" means many things to many and it meant something else to the Founding Fathers. For sure we know at the time of the writing of the Constitution only White men could vote and only those that had land holdings. White men who had no ownership of land could not vote.

Those in bondage; the thousands of slaves on the many plantations and in other types of servitude; indentured labor, could not vote.

Women as a whole could not vote not until 1920 and only those could, who were White. It is only after the Civil Rights Movement other rights were given to Blacks and to women as a whole.

Shocking to the world the Native Americans at the time of the founding of the Constitution could not vote. The paradox; the Founding Fathers learned a lot about governance from the Six Nations, more the Iroquois Tribe, who practiced Democracy for thousands of years. Much of the principles imbibed in the Constitution came from the Six Nations in one form or another.

Today just reflecting on the words " in Order to form a more perfect Union" we see the many disparities, the many nuances, the many convoluted routes taken to attain some attrition, some solution, some adjudication to give newer meaning to those trying to influence a different meaning to the words; " in Order to form a more perfect Union".

Today our Nation with a population of about 320 million could have attained the highest Justice, domestic Tranquility, a stellar defense for the good of our Nation, overcome Poverty, given better opportunities to foster Liberty and Posterity. But is has not; we talk the talk but do not walk the walk.

The paradox is that our Nation has failed. Our Nation that given unfettered access to the filthy rich; while with intent keeping decent, hardworking, tax paying citizens of the United States, perpetually down and living pay check to pay check. Our Nation is spiritually bankrupt an added fact that stalls progress.

Those fallen of bad times, facing inclement weather, standing in lines at soup kitchens more families with children; is this Justice? Does this insure Domestic Tranquility, does this promote general Welfare? Do lack of what I have stated before secure blessing of Liberty to ourselves and prosterity?

It is a shame that one in four children go to bed hungry in the United States. It is a shame that one in three seniors go to bed hungry. We as a Nation clearly have a Blue Print that can be put to good use; we can and should promote the general welfare of all our citizens. There are forces within our Nation; some call them the One Percent; this segment of the population have no place and do not insure the General Welfare, Blessings of Liberty to Americans.

Our Insurance Companies, our Large Financial Institutions, our policies makers do not have their heart in the right place. These institutions and persons that foster GREED; have trampled on our Constitution as we all saw in the economic debacle of 2008.

Just like that over eighty percent lost most of their saving; and when asked why? Those is power said that it was the system that failed. Where was the Justice that the Constitution proclaims in its opening lines? Where is the Justice? More when our seniors were impacted and are still impacted.

Our politicians in Congress and the Senate have failed us. Now is the time for term limits; three for any Congress person and two for any Senator worth the salt.

We send people to represent and all they do it amass wealth; fail to represent and do all in the power to remain in power and amass more illegal wealth to the detriment of all Americans.
