The 7th Annual Portola Festival was drab this time with nothing much of importance. The stalls were consolidated to a mere two blocks and the quality of the stalls was very poor. The few folks that came did not spend too much time and left.
The only saving grace was the San Francisco Asian Chorus. They entertained the mostly Asian audience for well over an hour and a half. Kudos to the entertainers, their performance was very well appreciated. The Annual Portola Festival is not living up to standards of the past festivals. I guess it is the sign of the times. Looking at the program seven big sponsors backed the Portola Festival. Among them Bank of the West, Comcast, Lennar Urban, San Francisco 49ers, Starbucks, State Farm, and North East Medical Services. The grantors Bay Area Local Initiatives Support Corporation, Office of Economic and Workforce Development, and San Francisco Arts Commission. The fiscal agents this time were Community Initiatives and Portola Family Connections. Again I have covered the Portola Festival before but this time it was to say the least- pathetic.
